Munchkin!

 MUNCHKIN!!!!    

This is long overdue but we have a little munchkin on the way! So I wasn't feeling so hot, and being the good obstetrician I am, I did actually take a pregnancy test. And it was negative. For weeks. I didn't know what was wrong with me. And then I tried again and it was POSITIVE!! Turns out pregnancy tests aren't positive for me until I'm like, 6 weeks along! 

We are so excited. Ronan is currently almost 18 months old and I am 25 weeks pregnant. The kiddos are going to be pretty close in age, which I hope will be really fun for them growing up! Ronan has no idea what is going on, though he is pointing to pictures of babies a lot and giving them kisses :)

There is a lot happening in the next few months before our little munchkin arrives. We leave for Toronto next week for Matt and Amy's wedding. Unlike when I was pregnant with Ronan, we can actually travel and see family! A few weeks after that, Dan is going on a mountain goat hunt in Canada for 2 weeks. Munchkin, your Dada is quite the wild man! About 2 weeks after he gets back, we are moving! We are so excited for our new home in Columbine Valley. We are building the house and will have so much more space, a big yard, a huge basement to play in, and lots of walking/biking paths for us to enjoy. My due date is October 31st (we think, more on that) so we will just be getting settled in the new house when our Munchkin arrives! 

So about the due date. I thought I was a little further along based on early ultrasounds (again, being a good obstetrician) but at the anatomy ultrasound, munchkin was HUGE! Like, either I'm growing a giant, or my dates are off. I think it's the latter. Though I do feel much bigger this time. Ronan was 6#8oz, what will you be Munchkin?

Anatomy Scan

 Dear Peanut, We had the 20 week anatomy scan this week! This was tough for me because I had to strategically look away from the ultrasound because we wanted to keep it a surprise if you were a boy or girl. You were acting very shy; you had both your arms and hands up crossed in front of your face! Your dad said you weren't shy, you were just dancing. Here are some pictures of you to share, you know they will be a little more nerdy and anatomical but this is what I do!  You weight 12 oz right now. I'm very relieved you are in the 55%. We know you will always be special, but an average weight is great right now! Ok here's the nerdy shot- its your spine and aortic arch! So pretty!  This one is admittedly creepy. Its your right eye and your moth is wide open yawning!  I'm sure I'll add a few more cute ones along the way :)

Pack Trip

 Dear Peanut, Vacationing during Covid is a little challenging as, well, we really can't go anywhere. Fortunately, we live in the great state of Colorado which is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Your dad organized the most incredible trip for us, a 3 day-2 night pack trip in the Flattop Wilderness! We took horses out and camped, being able to see a whole new part of the state, just the 3 of us :) The first of many family vacations in the outdoors!  Me starting to have a little baby bump Getting ready! Dear Peanut

 Dear Peanut, We don't know if you will be a boy or girl, and really didn't want to keep calling you "It" or "Baby." So "Peanut" it is. As I write this, I am 16 weeks pregnant (your due date is 2/4/21). Being pregnant with you is so exciting, and there are so many things going on in the world, we wanted to create something for you to read in the future to know what was happening. We had wanted to start a family for a little while, and could not have been more excited when we got pregnant. I found out June 1, 2020. Let me back up a little to explain what all had been happening in the months leading up to this date.  At the end of 2019, a new Coronavirus was discovered in China.
