New Pics

 Dear Peanut,

While I haven't actually done many ultrasounds on myself this pregnancy because I have honestly felt good and didn't feel like I needed to check in on you. Plus, you move SO MUCH I know you are just fine. Though, we decided to have some fun at the office the other day and did some 3D pics. I think you are going to have your Dad's nose. You are already so cute! I am 29 weeks as I am writing this but it was 28 weeks when the pictures were taken.

Here are just a few things I hope you also inherit from your dad:

- His hair! the O'Connell hair is epic
- His humor. Your dad is very witty.
- His resilience. He is willing to keep working at things and not give up. I mean he will stalk an elk for days in terrible weather.
-His athleticism. He's a great golfer, mountain biker, hunter, soccer player, skier. Again, goes back to the resilience. He is also competitive in a healthy way. Whether you like it or not, you will watch a lot of sports with him too.
-His feet. Just kidding, my feet are beautiful.
- His strength. He can stand up for himself and fight for what needs to get done
- His intelligence. He is very knowledgeable and has the patience to keep learning. I love that we can have great conversations about the world, politics, health and philosophy. Get excited for some deep conversations over dinner!
-His love of life. He wants to experience new things and has encouraged me to expand my horizons and step out of my comfort zone. I know you will see and do so many things in your life as your dad is not afraid to try anything!

Peanut!  Dad here joining the chat :) Simply put, your mom is amazing! She's made me the luckiest man in the world, and pretty soon, you'll come to learn how lucky we both are to have her in our lives. Here are a few of the things I hope you inherit and learn from your mom. Some of these traits overlap with what your mom said about me...which I guess is why we're such a good pair!

-Her compassion. Your mom is one of the most caring, understanding, and thoughtful people I know. Her ability to think about and care for others is next level and truly special.
-Her sense of family. Family is what's most important in life, and your mom's dedication to our family is unwavering.
-Her laugh. Mom's laugh fills the room and comes from the core. Everyone know's when mom thinks something is funny, because her deep laugh is infectious and brings out laughter from everyone around her.
-Her style and beauty. I wake up every morning to the sight of my amazing doctor-wife getting ready for her day. Whether in scrubs or more stylish attire, your mom finds a way to light up the room.
-Her smarts and expertise. Hard to really capture how impressive your mom's profession is. She is a doctor, a surgeon, and a miracle worker all in one!
-Her dedication and perseverance. When you're mom puts her mind to something, it gets done! She studied, trained, and worked for close to 15 years to become the amazing doctor she is today. While there were some really long days and difficult challenges during that time, your mom never gave up!
-Her patience. First and foremost, your mom puts up with me!...again, I'm the luckiest guy in the world.
-Her sense of wonder. Your mom has traveled all around the world, seeing far off places where people live very different ways with different cultures...and eat very different foods. She's never been afraid to meet new people or to try and experience new things, embracing that these differences often times make all of our lives richer.
-Her ability to speed read! I am the slowest reader in the world...yet your mom blows through books in no time. I wish I could read more quickly as reading is one of the most important skills in life.
